Eagles and the leaked SG1 movie

I'm up in Minneapolis for the Xmas break. Today we picked up a bunch of parrot toys for Kiwi and went to the Black Dog power plant to spot bald eagles. We saw between 2 and 3 dozen of them! They're all lined up on trees over the river, watching for fish in the warmer, nonfrozen sections. We took lots of shots but nothing spectacular because it was so cold outside and the bf didn't have a proper coat or hat or gloves. We should be going back tomorrow or Christmas Eve - hopefully I can post some shots here!

Rumor on GW is that the SG1 movie "Ark of Truth" has been leaked to teh interweb. Apparently it's not a finalized version, but good enough for those that want to see the plot. Me, I have no interest in watching it. Maybe it's because it's about the Ori (boring!) or that I've finally gotten over SG1. If it gets raving fan reviews (obvious fanboys excluded) I may give it a go, otherwise eh.

Snow and SG1 Films

And...it's snowing. I can only see paltry little flakes here and there, but it's definitely snow. I heard that warmer than usual summers tend to lead to winters with LOTS of snow. Yay snow!

Snurched from [info]balikpulang's journal - SG1 has apparently gotten the green light for two post-s10 films. The films look to be direct to DVD (no SciFi miniseries then?). The first film will wrap up the Ori and the second has something to do with time travel. Both are scheduled to be available next fall. It's good to see the franchise is moving on after cancellation.

Stargate mid-season ep reviews

September 25th, 2006 (07:44 pm)

Last season I was under whelmed with both Fourth Horsemen and Lost Boys/Hive, so I was pleasantly surprised that both SG1 and Atlantis had solid mid season finales. I have no major complaints with either of them and enjoyed them both, but as always there are things to nitpick. While I thought that Atlantis had better character moments overall, SG1 didn't dwell as much on setup and went straight into the action.

Spoilers for Quest and Return pt 1, with an update on recent Atlantis spoilers/rumors )

Hell, since almost everyone else is talking about it I might as well get on the bandwagon. ;)

MASSIVE rumors/potential spoilers for Atlantis. Emphasis on RUMOR, though spoiler-phobes should definitely avoid the following. )

Saving SG1

current tunes: BT

Is it just me, or does the "Save SG1" campaign seem extremely unfocused? So far I've seen posts on Gateworld advocating all of the following:

- Petitioning for the 11th season of SG1 to be available in digital format (iTunes).
- Petitioning for an 11th season on SciFi.
- Petitioning for an 11th season on another US network or on another country's network (Space or SkyOne).
- Petitioning for SG1 TV miniseries, movies, and/or big screen movies.
- Petitioning for a SG1 direct-to-DVD release of s11.

Now, it's pretty obvious that SG1 is not going to get all of these options. Isn't it better for the fan campaign to pick one of these possible futures and get everyone to work toward that goal? IMO, the best option (because it's the most financially lucrative for SciFi and/or MGM), is to petition for the miniseries and movies.

One week post-cancellation and everything is still frantic and messy as hell in the internet fandom. I can only hope that the campaign can buckle down and get focused quickly, or it won't be effective.

Interesting too how MGM has remainded mum about the future of SG1. Surely they have some idea by now. I imagine they're holding their cards while they monitor the fandom reaction.

More SG1/SGA fallout

Are some SG1 characters moving over to Atlantis? That's what this memo from a SciFi exec. seems to imply:

http://forum.gateworld.net/showthread.php?t=33736

So, who do you think would come and would we lose an Atlantis character(s) in the process? I could see either Sam or Daniel come over and replace Elizabeth as leader. I can also see Sam coming over and taking over Rodney's job (or have them work side by side, which would still drastically reduce Rodney's screentime). Teal'c could also serve as a replacement for Teyla, Ronon, or both.

(Also, no more Elizabeth or Rodney obviously means no M/W. And while I'm not opposed to Sam/McKay, the idea of writing it in if Sam takes over Elizabeth's position just seems so wrong.)

Yikes, what a scary thought! I want Atlantis to stand on its own, and I feel like adding SG1 characters is a smack in the face for those actors and characters already there. Hell, why worry about developing your Atlantis cast when you can just pull over an already developed SG1 member?

I wonder if this rumor will become reality. I'm also curious about whether this is SciFi's decision or whether TPTB want it too.

Okay, I had a feeling this was coming, but still, HOLY SHIT!

http://www.gateworld.net/news/2006/08/istargate_sg-1i_cancelled_iatlan.shtml

This is the last season of SG1. SciFi has announced that they're cancelling the show. Wow, and right after all the press and fan raves over 200th ep. Suck. I had a feeling SG1 wouldn't last past one or two more seasons, but it's still a kick in the gut to read that.

Atlantis has been renewed, but without SG1 how long will it last? I feel like it really hasn't set itself apart from its parent. Now I'm really hoping that TPTB kick that show in gear. The thought of no more McKay scares me.

:( :(
