Adrift ratings, plus a review of a tapas joint
So the SGA premiere ep "Adrift" apparently got a 1.2 rating. Ouch. This year Nielsen is including households who DVR shows and watch it within 3 days, but it's uncertain whether this 1.2 includes the DVR factor or not. To compare, Eureka got a 1.2 last week and Ghost Hunters pulled in a 1.4. Considering SGA is likely the most expensive show for skiffy, not including BSG, this may not bode well for the series.
Joe M. reports that they'll hear about renewal/cancellation in the next couple of weeks. It's all going to come down to whether MGM puts up enough cash to keep SGA alive.
In other news, the bf and I went to a great restaurant up in Minneapolis. It's called Solera and it's a tapas bar - lots of Spanish dishes in small servings for $3 to $9 a pop. I've been wanting to go there for years because of the great reviews. Unfortunately we came without a reservation, and seeing as how the actual dining room was booked for the next 3 hours (!), we sat in the bar area instead. We ended up ordering five dishes plus dessert, here's what we got:
-Three pieces of grilled soft bread topped with Serrano ham and Manchego cheese, yum.
-Beef on skewers with a spicy paprika sauce and cous cous with oranges, fennel, and olives.
-Ham and cheese croquetas (ham, cheese, and bechamel sauce rolled in bread crumbs and deep fried, OMG these were SO good).
-Soft bread topped with sobrasada (a cured meat like salami, except it was soft like pate. Very rich and pungent with vinegar. I liked it, the bf didn't care for it), Manchego, and quince honey (lovely!).
-Veal meatballs with spicy honey glaze and saffron rice (the meatballs were very moist and tasty, the sauce could have used more pow, and the rice was served cold. I've never understood serving cold rice).
And for dessert we had five mini-desserts lined up on a plate. The theme must have been cherry, for it had offerings such as cherry cakes, chocolate covered cherry sorbet, and cherry ice cream soda in champagne in a tiny glass. It sounds great, but it didn't live up to my expectations, especially since critics couldn't stop raving about the desserts.
I was worried that the meal would be ridiculously expensive, but with drinks it only ended up being about $60. Not bad!
