It's currently in the 20s and snowing. STOP THAT RIGHT NOW! On the positive side, the grass has turned back from sickly yellow to vibrant green and the trees and bushes are finally starting to bud. Hooray for spring!
Alas, I am going to be stuck doing experiments this weekend, so no Easter brunch for me. I'll probably bake my family's traditional Easter lemon crescent rolls and send them with the bf when he goes to see his fam.
In other news, I lost a bit of love for RDM today. Apparently there was a throwdown between him and fans on the TWoP BSG boards regarding spoilers. Someone had posted the entire synopsis of the s3 finale in the spoiler thread because they had seen one of the screeners that TPTB had sent out. RDM sent an email to the forum mod (who also posts extremely detailed and almost overwhelmingly positive episode reviews) basically saying "Hey, love your reviews, but delete this spoiler post immediately." The mod was a bit cranky at the tone of the letter and became even more cranky because they have to go into the spoiler thread, effectively spoiling themselves completely about the finale.
Now I know that RDM really, REALLY dislikes having spoilers sneak out before eps air. According to rumor, he had a fit when those plot-spoilery pictures were posted for the s2 finale. But come on Ron, what did you honestly expect when you released screeners to the general public? It was your mistake and trying to force damage control onto the internet just makes you look demanding.
Also, while on the topic of my crankiness toward TPTBs, I've given up on following Joe M's Stargate blog. It was fun in the beginning, but now the blog comments are overwhelming fan vs. fan infighting. I'm tired of the posters with an agenda. I'm tired of the posters who have ugly things to say about TPTB. I'm tired of the posters who defend TPTB by replying with ugly things about the fans. I'm tired of the posters who always post on his blog and pretend that they're all buddy-buddy with him. I'm tired of the posters who would rather snipe at other comments than post about Joe's blog. I'm tired of Joe obviously feeding the infighting by allowing anonymous posting and letting the nastiest posts through his screen. I'm tired of the fans who lash out at those that post anonymously yet use obviously fake user names. I'm tired of the arrogance and the condescension and the overall insanity. So, bye bye blog!
Fandom can be like a rabid dog in a cage. Often loud, often mean, but ultimately powerless when it comes to big show decisions. Wise PTBs realize this and either ignore the dog, try to help it out, or just be polite. Foolish PTB poke the dog with a stick. I'm fed up with Joe M's stick poking, even if it's not directly aimed at my segment of the fandom.
