The bf and I went to a swanky wedding reception last weekend. Interlachen golf course, live band, flowers everywhere, tons of food. I liked how they did the food - there were four tables in the main room with small bites of all sorts of tasty things. Sushi, curried beef in coconut shells, asian lettuce wraps, salmon, lamb, pineapple, cilantro apple chicken salad. And the dessert table had a huge stack of cupcakes, chocolate dipped strawberries, and chocolate covered cheesecake bites. It was much more fun than being served formally at tables.

And it had an open bar, where I discovered 1 large glass of shiraz + 1 chocolate martini = very tipsy toaster! I should have stopped with the wine, but I couldn't turn down a free martini! :)

Blech. I've had mild migraines the past few days (no throbbing or light sensitivity, they just don't go away with normal tylenol treatment). I take one Midrin and the headache goes away, but the damn medication makes me sooo drowsy. A few hours ago I was practically nodding off at work. The fact that I was reading a biostatistics book didn't help things. ^_^

It's March! I CAN HAS NEW BSG NOW PLZ? Seriously, I'm dying here.

Watched "Kindred 2" last night. Without spoiling things too much, I'll say that I enjoyed his return quite a bit (a little OTT at the end though). I was sad when Rodney mentioning Elizabeth. And overall I think Teyla's "arc" this season has sucked. Where did the fierce, kickass woman go? Blech.

Next week's "Last Man" looks to have lots of CGIed explosions and...well an "emotional" moment that I won't spoil as it might trigger my gag reflex. It may come up in the comments, so beware!

I'm not a big fan of the Shep/McKay dynamic so it's no big surprise that I didn't care much for Harmony. Plus, the plot was predictable, the jokes weren't witty, and I didn't like the sprog.

I went to a wine and cheese tasting last night at a friends. The wines were okay, but two cheeses really stood out - a Maytag (yep, same family that makes the washing machines) blue cheese and a goat cheese gouda. Mmmm. And a tiny convenience store/deli/butcher less than a block from my place sells both of them!

Also, I love the English biscuits that taste like a refined graham cracker. Delicious!

That particular scene in BAMSR had me both very happy (I actually clenched my fists and squeed, bf thinks I'm more of a nutter than usual) and very sad at the same time.

Here are some pics from several weekends ago when I went to see my mum at Pepin, a town along the Mississippi River. The restaurant was fantastic, but the weather was cruddy - cold and foggy and rainy. There were tons of seagulls around the harbor so we got lots of shots. On the drive home we were lucky enough to see a bald eagle perched on a tree by the road. We got one good shot before he flew back further to another tree to hang out with another eagle.

It snowed last week! Not enough to stick, but enough to get the ground damp. I've been wearing my winter coat for several days before that, and a week before we finally turned on the heat (we had been coasting on residual heat from our building).

My old apartment complex has been claimed by Mayo, probably to be turned into a parking lot or something. Last week the windows were boarded up and the fire department came and trained there. Right now they're tearing the place down. It's kinda fun to watch.

What did everyone think of SGA's Missing? I thought it was okay, Teyla kicked butt but Keller was sort of whiny. And the guy with the lollipop, snerk. ^_^
