From Slashdot:

It turns out the feds have been monitoring Interstate 5 for nuclear "dirty bombs." They do it with radiation detectors so sensitive it led to the following incident.

"Vehicle goes by at 70 miles per hour," Giuliano told the crowd. "Agent is in the median, a good 80 feet away from the traffic. Signal went off and identified an isotope [in the passing car]."

The agent raced after the car, pulling it over not far from the monitoring spot (near the Bow-Edison exit, 18 miles south of Bellingham). The agent questioned the driver, then did a cursory search of the car, Giuliano said.

Did he find a nuke?

"Turned out to be a cat with cancer that had undergone a radiological treatment three days earlier," Giuliano said.

Heeheehee. Our tax dollars hard at work! Schrödinger cat is not amused. Or is it? ^_^

Wow, CAMERA LENS ENVY!!! Damn, I don't even know how that woman walks around!

The photographers on my flist should also get a kick out of this collection of "in the field" photos. LOL!!!! ^_^

So the bf and I are finally thinking about making an official online gallery for our photos. We've been looking at all the possible sites like photobucket, deiviantart, and flickr. One that caught our eye was smugmug.com. You have to pay to get an account, but the galleries look very professional, the interface is easy to use, and the site allows people to purchase your prints and they only take a small amount. The bf has read accounts from many people who have made money off of their photos, from the equivalent of a nice dinner every month to 50-100K a year! We're kinda curious as to whether we can get some cash on the side with our pics.

Updates to come as we make a decision and start to upload photos! We only have to sort through 60 gigs or so. O_O

Okay, I don't know what to think about this because I have no idea what would be an "unpopular pairing" on Atlantis. But I'm going to blame the Kav/Weir shippers. DAMN YOU!!

Grrr...looks like either YouTube is doing some internal control or MGM is on the warpath. Several of my flisters have had their Stargate fanvids pulled off of YouTube. I can understand cracking down on full-length episodes or very long clips, but this is absurd. Fanvids do fall into the gray area of copyright infringement, but I see them as purely promotional, not as a substitute for the actual show in any way. Couple that with the recent shutdown of Atlantis and BSG promo pic websites by NBC and I am one cranky camper.

On the topic of YouTube, here are a couple of non-Stargate vids. First, snurched from [info]minimiles, an "educational" vid of what happens when you give spiders drugs:

And cats doing generally clumsy, crack-like things. Always funny!!! : ]

Big honkin' news on Atlantis casting )

In other news, the following crack-tastic animated music vid (snurched from [info]fritters) has a toaster on fire, OMG!!!111!!!:

After much angst over converting Flash to an avi coupled with learning animation on GIMP, I converted my namesake to a icon:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

And I figured out how to cram these animated Azumanga icons below 50 kB so anyone can take them if they want:

Yay me! :)
